Center for Toddler Development

 Collection
Identifier: BC13-39

Collection Scope and Content Summary

This collection consists of paper materials from the Center for Toddler Development. The collection's earlier records from professor Frances Schachter and professor Barbara Mates hold information about these founding figures, as well as showcase the Psychology Department's research on developmental psychology and course syllabi. Another prominent figure and creator of records within the collection is Patricia Henderson Shimm, Founding Teacher and former Associate Director of the Barnard Toddler Center. The records in the collection serve as an indicator of Shimm's professional life and her relationship to the Toddler Center, its employees, parents and children. The collection also contains records documenting admissions processes over time through brochures and correspondence with parents, as well as relevant milestones for the Center, including anniversaries, reunions, and a memorial for Shimm.
