Scope and Contents
This is an oral history interview with a narrator identified by a pseudonym, SWH, conducted by Ava Sullivan-Thomas and Ana Sofia Harrison on July 18th, 2023. This oral history begins as she reflects on the experience of growing up in the Bronx. She speaks about her incarceration and learning about the organization ReConnect during her time at Providence House. She describes the impact that participating in ReConnect had on her throughout her reentry. She discusses her involvement in campaigning for the DVSJA (Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act) and her personal connection to the cause. Additionally, she explains her involvement in the creation of the WCJA (Women's Community Justice Association). She concludes the interview by elaborating on the membership and accomplishments of the WCJA.
