Historical Summary

The Catalogue Committee was tasked with making recommendations to the president and academic departments about improving Barnard’s course catalog for prospective and enrolled students. In 1954, three subcommittees of the Catalogue Committee were created, each focusing on a different aspect of the course catalog: content, typography, and presentation. In 1954, recommendations included a request to the President to write a statement defining the aims of the college and a restructuring of department statements.
