Series Scope and Content Summary

Series 1 contains correspondence, memorandums, surveys, reports, and guides generated by the Dean for Academic Planning and Advising and other Barnard administrative staff in the Deans’ Office for Advising and Support. These materials represent regular communication and collaboration with Barnard administration and faculty about academic advising, curriculum, and student life. The series also includes guides to academic advising that illustrate how faculty members were trained to serve as academic advisers for students.

Series 1 and 2 contain student materials that are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and are restricted for 75 years from the date of creation. Restricted materials have been separated and labeled.

Permission to view interviews in Series 3 must be given by the interviewee before researchers can access them. Access information for each interview will be updated as permissions are obtained. Portions of BC05-15_Tapes-043, BC05-15_Tapes-044, BC05-15_Tapes-071, and BC05-15_Tapes-072 that contain footage of an anonymous interviewee are permanently restricted and cannot be accessed.
