Wreath for Entrance Words, April 14, 1917
Scope and Contents Note
This series is comprised of the objects that were created either for or as a result of the staging of the Greek Games. Included in this series are costumes worn during the Greek games, wreathes presented to winners of competitions, the hoop and discus used in the Games, a bronze charioteer pin, a miniature model of a chariot, and a hand painted watercolor card given to Marion Philips by the Class of 1964.
Of note is the orange tunic with green decoration, which was the Athletic costume for the Class of 1962 in their sophomore year, when the costume committee was chaired by Martha Stewart, Class of 1963.
Also of interest is a collection of papers relating to the Chester Beach statue “Spirit of the Greek Games."
