Scope and Contents

This series contains materials that pertain to the Board’s establishment, membership, and operations and status as an entity. Materials include charters, bylaws and agreements, including Barnard’s founding charter and multiple versions of agreements between Barnard and Columbia. This series also contains biographical files on trustee members, which typically include curricula vitae, news clippings, and other materials related to Board members’ professional lives. Finally, this series contains correspondence among Board members, including correspondence related to the College’s founding charter.

All materials produced by the Board of Trustees are restricted for twenty years from the date of creation.

Personnel records relating to Barnard faculty and staff (including search, review, promotion, tenure, and disciplinary/grievance records) are restricted for seventy-five years from the date of creation.
