Scope and Contents

The materials in this subseries contain meeting minutes, agendas, memos, financial reports, and presentations from current and potential investment managers. Also included are investment portfolios, investment guidelines, suggested asset allocation, portfolio summaries, correspondence with investment management companies, financial statements and forecasts, meeting minutes and resolutions regarding re-investment in South Africa in 1993, the annual report of the Barnard College Advisory Committee on Socially Responsible Investing, and a letter from Students for Socially Responsible Investing about divesting from South African investments in the early 2000s.

All materials produced by the Board of Trustees are restricted for twenty years from the date of creation.

Personnel records relating to Barnard faculty and staff (including search, review, promotion, tenure, and disciplinary/grievance records) are restricted for seventy-five years from the date of creation.

Historical Background

According to the 2023 Board of Trustees bylaws, the Investment Committee manages the “investment and reinvestment of the funds of the College” and establishes “investment guidelines in accordance with an investment policy approved by the Board.” The Committee also appoints and oversees the performance of investment advisors and managers. The Committee produces a written report of all of the College’s investments each quarter; this report covers any investment changes that have occurred since the last report and any changes that the Committee anticipates.
