Collection Scope and Content Summary
The Magazine contains photographs of faculty, staff, and alums; advertisements for books published by Barnard professors and alums; lists of alums; calendars of events; business and professional directories for alums; correspondence from overseas alums; and articles detailing changes in faculty, programs, and campus structure at Barnard. Early features of the publication are columns about developments in personal lives, reprints of commencement programs, and paraphrases of material discussed at informal alumnae teas and luncheons. The publication also contains histories of college institutions, such as Holly House and the Barnard College Thrift Store. Also of note are articles on changing standards in higher education.
Duplicate copies of bound volumes v.1 (May 1912-June 1949), v.2 (October 1949-July 1959), 31-34 (1941-1945), 39-41 (1949-1952), 50-52 (Fall 1960-Summer 1963), 53-55 (Fall 1963-Summer 1966), 62-63 (Fall 1972-Summer 1974), 64-65 (Fall 1974-Summer 1976), 66-67 (Fall 1976-Summer 1978), 70-71 (Fall 1980-Summer 1982), and 76-77 (Fall 1986-Summer 1988).
The Spring 2019 issue is not currently included in this collection.
