Collection Scope and Content Summary

The collection contains scrapbooks, notebooks, clippings, personal notes, and manuscripts belonging to Eleanore Myers Jewett. Scrapbooks provide detailed records of Jewett’s time at Barnard, and contain handwritten, comprehensive schedules of Jewett’s days, as well as newspaper clippings, programs, and correspondence relevant to her activities. The scrapbooks also contain black and white candid photographs, cyanotypes, class songs, booklets from both opening exercises and commencement, descriptions of outfits/costumes worn for Barnard events, and records of the changing mottos/songs of the class of 1912.

Also included in the collection are Jewett’s poetry and short stories, and copies of her published work Felicity Finds a Way, and work included in St. Nicholas Magazine for Boys and Girls.
