This collection contains the publication Why We Strike, which was organized and distributed by the Barnard Strike Coalition, following the National Student Strike of 1970. Why We Strike contains a chronology of events surrounding the strike at Barnard, a poem by then-student Ntozake Shange (nee Paulette Williams) and Barbara Davis, and letters in support from Barnard College faculty, the Third World Coalition, and Barnard Strike members, among others.
