The collection contains departmental correspondence, fliers and pamphlets for departmental events including the greenhouse, faculty lists, and the Hughes Science Pipeline Project at Barnard College annual reports.

Material pertaining to individual student records is restricted for 75 years from the date of creation, in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Personnel records of faculty and staff (including search, tenure/promotion, and disciplinary/grievance records) are restricted for 75 years from the date of creation.

No permission is required for reproductions of materials in the public domain or uses that fall within fair use exemptions to copyright as defined under U.S. Copyright Law.

Transferred from the Biology Department.
Appraisal
Gradebooks containing lists of students in various classes and their grades were removed from the collection by an archivist because of FERPA-protected information and duplication of information held by the Registrar's Office.
Accruals
Additions are expected.
Processing History
The collection was processed and the finding aid written by Dinah Handel, July 2015. An accrual was processed by Olivia Newsome in March 2024. Gradebooks were deaccessioned and the finding aid updated by Martha Tenney, June 2025. A significant accural was processed by Olivia Newsome in June 2025.
