Alice Catherine Grant Scrapbook

 Collection
Identifier: BC15-10

Collection Scope and Content Summary

Alice Catherine Grant's scrapbook ranges from 1904, when Grant was in the process of applying to Barnard, to 1907, during her junior year. Half of the scrapbook is blank and was never completed. This scrapbook is notable for the hand-lettered section titles, handwritten captions, and personal anecdotes that often accompany physical ephemera. The scrapbook provides a detailed record of and insight into the undergraduate reactions to Barnard traditions and policies.

The Scrapbook also includes handwritten lyrics from the new songs written from the class of 1909, Grant's Barnard entrance exam results, and handwritten paper/assignment responses and grades from her teachers.
