Collection Scope and Content Summary

This collection is comprised of materials related to anniversaries celebrating Barnard College's establishment in 1889. These materials range from administrative documents such as planning committee notes, fundraising records, donor lists, and press releases, to event-specific records like menus, guest lists, speeches, and programs. Of particular note is a 25th anniversary capital campaign appeal delivered by Virginia Gildersleeve, a 50th anniversary questionnaire and a 50th anniversary fundraising scrapbook, a set of lectures presented for the Centennial celebrations, and a 1989 Centennial banner.

Abstract

This collection consists of materials from Barnard College's anniversaries, including the 20th, 25th, 40th, 50th, 65th, 75th, Centennial in 1989, and Quasquicentennial in 2014. The collection contains invitations, programs, fundraising records, donors lists, invitee lists, menus, addresses and speeches, Convocation records, planning committee files, clippings, press releases, and ephemera.

Series 4, 100th Anniversary
Series 5, 20th, 40th, 65th, & 125th Anniversaries

Acquisition Information

The acquisition date and source is unknown for the majority of the collection. The recording of Barnard's Great Voices was donated to the Archives by Douglas Maget.
