Historical Background

The Barnard Columbia Ancient Drama Group, formerly known as the Barnard Columbia Greek Drama Group, is a group that stages and performs plays in ancient Greek and Latin. Formed in 1976, by Barnard senior Marian Chertow and Columbia College senior Thomas Martin, the group enjoyed early support from Professor of Classics Helen Bacon. The Barnard Columbia Ancient Drama Group receives funding from the Matthew Alan Kramer Fund (established by Kramer's parents after his passing) through the Barnard and Columbia Classics Departments. Performances have typically taken place in the Minor Latham Theater and other locations on Barnard's campus.

2016 promotional materials gift of Victoria Schmitt-Scheuber, 2016. Permission to crawl and capture website and Facebook page granted by Anna Conser, 2016. Initial crawl of website and social media pages captured in March and April, 2016. Programs and materials from 1977-2024 gift of Thomas Martin.

Accruals

Additions are expected. Web crawls of the Barnard Columbia Ancient Drama Group public website and social media pages began in March, 2016 and will be conducted on a continuing basis.
