Big Sub event materials (1 of 2), 2000
Subseries Scope and Content Summary
The Community committee plans events that aim to build community between Barnard students on campus. Community is responsible for some of Barnard’s best-known traditions, including Midnight Breakfast and Big Sub. Midnight Breakfast is a free breakfast hosted the midnight before finals week begins that is attended by hundreds of members of the Barnard and greater Columbia University community and has a different theme each semester.
Big Sub, created in 2000, is an over seven hundred foot long subway sandwich that is assembled annually throughout Barnard’s campus. The sandwich accounts for nearly all dietary restrictions and is usually consumed by the student body in under ten minutes. This subseries contains materials related to the events the Community Committee organizes like Midnight Breakfast, Big Sub, Greek Games, and Spirit Day. This subseries also contains committee chair training materials, committee rosters, meeting minutes, meeting agendas, and event planning records.
