Scope and Contents

Subseries 1.2, Research Materials, consists of annotated secondary sources, scholarship on AIDS in Western Uganda, press clippings, and other materials related to Vincent’s research in Uganda. Secondary sources include newspaper and journal articles alongside Vincent’s typed notes. Also significant are the photocopied materials on the development of the Teso district in the 1920s and 1930s, including sources on trade in Gondo. Additional items include conference presentations, programs, papers, and Vincent’s personal documentation from conferences she attended. Also included are Vincent’s hand-drawn maps and newsletters from the Teso Development Trust. There are also a number of hand drawn maps included in Subseries 2.2, either created originally by Vincent or hand-copied by Vincent.

Collection materials are predominantly in English. Some materials in Series 1, Uganda Research, feature a Nilotic language that might be Ateso, Luganda, or Lusoga, languages spoken in the Teso region of Uganda; however, archivists are not certain.
